Union Marketing began as Canadian Union Promotions in 2001, a company providing customized Canadian, union-made promotional products to various union locals and political organizations. After learning of other services our clients were in need of, we expanded to offer more than just promotional products. We began providing alternate services to clients, such as call blasts, email marketing, websites and large-scale projects, including social media campaigns, events and media buys. Our staff grew and the company developed a mind of its own. Eventually, our divisional brand Union Marketing was established. Currently, we’re a one-stop-shop for union clients providing services to enhance membership engagement, community initiatives and union-for-union support.
Our team consists of unique individuals with various skill-sets who have come together to form innovative outside-the-box campaigns. We are animators, designers, creative writers, software developers, digital media experts, cinematographers, event planners, print specialists, promotional product specialists and more. With a vastly talented staff, we’re able to offer our clients a wide range of services, providing them with the best solutions for their organization.
In order to take a front-line approach in supporting union initiatives, Union Marketing organized under the CUPE umbrella in 2013. Both management and staff were in support of unionization in order to build a stronger relationship with clients and attain a deeper understanding of their needs (as CUPE locals). Joining CUPE has also allowed Union Marketing to become further involved in the labour movement. It’s our goal to transition unions into the next generation of tech and communication, featuring innovative solutions that assist in achieving higher membership participation at meetings, increased communication with members, and improved community relations.
From support staff to civic employees, Union Marketing has had the opportunity to work with several different unions and organizations, all with different visions and needs. Whether it’s developing a website, increasing membership engagement, planning a public awareness campaign or rebranding a local completely, our staff has the talent and ability to produce a high-quality, effective end product. "Unions are getting bigger. They are also getting younger members so they need to keep up with today’s technology."
–Nico Tejada, Lead Graphic Designer
“The public doesn’t know a lot about unions and the work they do to benefit the community… Our job is to turn that around.”
